Senior Recital | PCM Class of 2021
As one of the ways to celebrate PCM’s graduating seniors—in a year when traditional senior recitals and other in-person graduation festivities were not an option—we offered all of our seniors the opportunity to be filmed performing in Barrett Hall. The hope was that we’d be able to present a group senior recital in the same manner that we’d filmed and presented faculty concerts while the campus was shut down.
What follows are those filmed performances along with a few quotes about the process from the participating students and their instructors.
Congratulations to all of our talented and resilient graduating seniors. We’re so proud of you!
Rosemary Li, piano
Chopin: Etude Op. 25, No. 1 in A-flat major
Rosemary is a student of Susan Svrček
This past year was like none we have ever known. These students and their resilience have really shown through. To have a record of that moment in time, with upcoming graduations and the anticipation of new experiences—what treasures these videos will be in the future! Dressed in their beautiful concert clothes… and wearing masks, Rosemary and Sudi remained so poised. And how beautifully they played!

Bradley Marelich, piano
Beethoven: Sonata WoO 47, No. 2 in F minor, mvt. 1
Bradley is a student of Elizabeth Zacharias
I thought that the senior video recording was a great event because it felt like a culmination of all the hard work I put into music for my entire time at PCM. It really capped off my PCM experience in a great way and truly brought out all the progress I believe I have made in my time here.

I enjoyed Bradley’s Barrett Hall recording session immensely and am very proud of his achievement. He worked hard to prepare his piece and so earned the ability to relax and enjoy playing on a beautiful piano in a beautiful hall in spite of the unique pressures of recording. He was able to laugh off mistakes and try again without losing the spirit of the piece. We both had a great time!
—Elizabeth Zacharias
Sudi Feng, piano
R. Schumann: Papillons, Op. 2
Sudi is a student of Susan Svrček
It was a pleasant surprise when we were given the opportunity a while back (thank you PCM!), since due to COVID I wasn’t expecting to be able to have that exciting senior recital experience. When the time to record came around, it was fun! It was my first time recording a piece with so many cameras on me at once so it made me a little nervous, but I enjoyed it a lot.

Kazuo Harrison, piano
Chopin: Nocturne Op. 48, No. 1 in C minor
Kazuo is a student of Vatché Mankerian
Charlotte Monsour, violin
Kelly Anderson, piano
Beethoven: Violin Sonata No. 5 in F major, Op. 24, “Spring”, mvt. 4
Charlotte is a student of Sharon Harman
I enjoyed getting to play in Barrett Hall one last time. Also, I hadn’t seen my teacher in person in over a year, and it was really good to see her. The recording was also a lot less stressful than a normal performance (I actually didn’t really get nervous before), so that was nice, too.
