PCM is excited to present our second annual Practice-a-thon, challenging students and faculty of all ages, levels, and instruments to participate in a school-wide project to practice, while also raising funds for scholarships.
Through our collective and shared efforts to practice, we hope this event serves as a reminder that we are all part of a musical community dedicated to learning, performing, and enjoying music.
Practice challenge: Throughout the month of October, students and faculty will track and report their practice. Prizes will be awarded at the end of Practice-a-thon (see dropdown below).
The Jam: The Jam is PCM’s new open-mic series (open to all PCM students or faculty!) and a great way to work through nerves while supporting fellow musicians. The Jam will be held in the Courtyard every Friday at 4 p.m., beginning October 8. See the dropdown menu “For Students” to sign up.
Performapalooza: To showcase their hard work during the month of October, participants may sign up to perform in the Performapalooza recital, held in Barrett Hall on November 6 at 4 p.m. Awards and prizes will be announced from stage.
Fundraising for financial aid: Practice-a-thon participants have the option to help raise funds for scholarships by asking friends and family to sponsor their practice.
PCM intends to offer The Jam and Performapalooza as in-person events, but may present these as virtual offerings if circumstances around Covid-19 change.
Prizes: PCM will award prizes to students for the most time practiced and recognize teaching studios and departments for most time practiced and overall participation. We will also recognize those who have helped raise funds for scholarships.
Raffle: Every student who practices 31 consecutive days and/or raises $50 is automatically entered into a raffle for a $100 gift certificate from Bertrand’s Music.

To sponsor a PCM student, you can make a one-time gift of any amount or pledge an amount based on their practice time.
