Lesley Baird
Lesley Baird is a dynamic and passionate music educator, performer, and mentor with over a decade of experience inspiring young musicians. A classically trained vocalist with a versatile sound, she brings both artistry and authenticity to the stage as a poised soloist and collaborative ensemble performer. Her extensive performance background and charismatic presence have shaped her engaging, student-centered teaching style.
She began her teaching journey in 2013 through the Thornton School of Music Outreach Program while completing her master’s degree in vocal performance, bringing music education to underserved schools in the Los Angeles area. Since then, she has devoted her career to making music accessible to all children, guided by the belief that music is a vital part of every child’s education.
Currently, Lesley Baird teaches in the Los Angeles Unified School District through Education Through Music–Los Angeles, where she also serves as a Mentor Teacher, supporting and guiding new music educators. She is certified in Orff Schulwerk and continues to deepen her pedagogical skills through regular Orff workshops, training seminars, and professional development programs.
In addition to her classroom work, she has led numerous professional development sessions for fellow educators, focusing on integrating literature into music instruction and using games and songs to foster joyful, expressive learning environments. Her approach emphasizes creativity, play, and connection, encouraging students to grow in confidence and musicality.
Lesley has been a long time substitute teacher at PCM for the young musician classes and is thrilled to join the young musician team and bring the love of music to young children.
Through all her work, Lesley strives to help children express themselves, build their confidence, and expand their minds—one song at a time.
