Announcing the 2025 Wicked GOAT Season
Wicked GOAT returns for another special season! Co-curated by Nic Gerpe and Katelyn Vahala, this concert series was created in 2022 to introduce the PCM community to the exciting world of contemporary classical music. Now in its fourth season, the goal is “to bring together artists and musicians from the Los Angeles area to present concerts that are designed to spark curiosity and show that classical music isn’t just something from the past — it’s something alive, new, and full of imagination,” says Gerpe and Vahala.
Looking back on past seasons, Wicked GOAT has grown into something really special.
“What started as an idea to bring new music to PCM, has become a series where students, parents, and performers come together to explore sounds and stories that are totally different from what they might expect at a typical classical concert. Our concerts have featured works and performances by over fifty composers and musicians who all contribute to the amazing Los Angeles music scene. Performances have included everything from shouting percussionists, eight violinists battling it out onstage, pieces about the Ice Age, and everything in between. We are so excited for the series to continue to grow and to share this ever-changing and exciting musical field.”
The 2025-2026 season is all about color, creativity, and musical exploration. We will be presenting two exciting concerts, Technicolor Goat and Goat In C, that invite listeners to reimagine music and explore how it can be shaped by color and structure.
Technicolor Goat
Sunday, December 14, 2025
Barrett Hall
This concert dives into how composers translate color into sound. There will be vibrant works by Jennifer Higdon, Andy Akiho, and a world premiere by the brilliant Brendan Faegre. If you’ve ever wondered what the color yellow might sound like, or how color can shape music, this is your show!
Goat In C
Saturday, March 28, 2026
Webster Amphitheater
In this concert, we will be taking on Terry Riley’s iconic piece “In C.” Built on repeated patterns and group improvisation, “In C” is a groundbreaking minimalist work. It is a hypnotic ride in which no two performances are the same. Our take will be outside in the amazing new Webster Amphitheater and will be full of both returning and new Wicked Goat musicians.
Above all, Gerpe and Vahala say, “we hope listeners walk away feeling inspired by the music, performers, or simply by the act of listening more closely.” Whether you are a long-time concertgoer or just discovering contemporary classical music for the first time, you will leave feeling like you were part of something exciting and fresh. “If they’re still thinking about a piece the next day, or imagining what music ‘looks’ like, we’ve done what we’ve set out to do.”
All Wicked GOAT concerts are free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
