Panic Duo (Nic Gerpe, Piano and Pasha Tseitlin, Violin) will present an eclectic, colorful and highly virtuosic program of modern works for violin and piano, inspired by poetry, folk song, and literature.

The program celebrates the works of women composers, and includes music by LA locals Anne LeBaron, Reena Esmail, and Juhi Bansal, as well as Pulitzer Prize winner Jennifer Higdon. The program will also feature the World Premiere of NY composer Gilda Lyons’ Summoning Fire, and the Los Angeles premiere of Laura Kramer’s trio Reflections Through Shattered Mirrors, with the composer joining Panic Duo on tenor saxophone. These two pieces, in addition to the LeBaron and Bansal compositions, were written specifically for the Duo and represent their ongoing commitment to commissioning and championing new works.

Program:
LeBaron: Fissure, for violin, piano and electronics (2016)
Bansal: Whip the Devil Round the Stump (2017)
Esmail: Jhula Jhule (2013)
Higdon: String Poetic (2006)
Lyons: Summoning Fire (2017 – World Premiere)
Kramer: Reflections Through Shattered Mirrors for violin, tenor saxophone, and piano (2017 – Los Angeles Premiere)
