Introducing Mariachi Pasadena!

Mariachi Musicians on stage

Jimmy Cuéllar instructs PCM violin student, Andres Olmos, at PCM’s Mariachi Pasadena! open house.

Beginners welcome. Everyone sings!

PCM is thrilled to announce the launch of Mariachi Pasadena!—a vibrant Mariachi program led by composer, arranger, and three time Grammy Award winning local Mariachi band leader, Jaime “Jimmy” Cuéllar.

Jimmy Cuéllar began performing in Mariachi alongside his father and uncles at the age of 12, and worked his way up to becoming a member of the world-renowned Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano. He began teaching Mariachi in 1994, when his father started Mariachi Garibaldi.

Jimmy will be the Mariachi Pasadena! program and ensemble leader as well as the violin, trumpet, vihuela, guitarron, and arpa instructor. He will be joined by voice and guitar instructor Gustavo Hernandez, and violin and vihuela instructor Ramon Figueroa.

When asked about his hopes for Mariachi Pasadena!, Jimmy replied that he’s excited to share his culture and to “build a program for all ages that can showcase the magic that is Mariachi.”
