Andres Salazar

Andrés Salazar is a Conductor, Pianist, Harpsichordist and Music Educator based in Los Angeles California. Andrés maintains an active performance and teaching career and was recently one of 36 exceptionally talented conductors invited to attend the Finals of the Felix Mendelssohn International Conducting Competition in January 2024. In September of 2023 he began a position as the Assistant Conductor of the Santa Clarita Symphony. Other recent engagements and collaborations include The Orchestra Now at Bard College (TŌN), the Bard Vocal Arts Program, and the 2023 Bard Undergraduate Opera Production.

A committed teacher, Andrés maintains a vibrant piano studio privately and at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music. He has been teaching piano, theory, and conducting for 8 years, and is passionate about the education of youth in the arts. He was Assistant Conductor of the Santa Clarita Youth Orchestra from 2018 – 2021, and worked with the students on standard orchestral repertoire, new music, chamber music, and in individual coaching sessions.

Andrés graduated from the Bard College Conservatory of Music with a Master’s Degree in Orchestral and Choral Conducting, where he studied with Dr. James Bagwell. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance, from California Institute where he studied with renowned L.A. Pianist Dr. Vicki Ray.
