Music Talks | Benefactors Circle
Music Talks is a new PCM lecture series exclusively for members of the Benefactors Circle
Reena Esmail, guest speaker and composer
Often, contemporary composers aim to ‘challenge’ an audience with their music — to push listeners outside of their comfort zone. But what if composers also used new music specifically to build bridges between people in different parts of the world, or even between different communities within their own city? Composer Reena Esmail will speak about her work creating equitable spaces across cultures and communities through her music, culminating in an interactive performance of Take What You Need.
Members of PCM’s Benefactors Circle may join us at 7 p.m. for a wine and dessert reception, followed by Ms. Esmail’s discussion at 8 p.m. To find out if you’re already a member of the Benefactors Circle, please contact Melissa Froehlich at 626.683.3355.
