Elizabeth Zacharias
Elizabeth Zacharias has been a dedicated music educator since 1994. She has been a faculty member at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music in the Piano and Young Musicians departments since 2004 and maintains a private piano studio in Los Angeles. She was a teaching assistant and accompanist at Interlochen Center for the Arts and taught in the Arizona State University Preparatory and Conservatory division. Ms. Zacharias has enjoyed a varied teaching career as a classical piano teacher, an early childhood music specialist, and an elementary school general music teacher.
Ms. Zacharias completed a master’s of music degree in piano performance and pedagogy at Arizona State University and a bachelor’s of music degree in piano performance at University of Arizona. Her principal teachers were Rex Woods, Paula Fan, Jan Meyer Thompson, and Eckart Sellheim. Her early childhood training includes Orff Schulwerk Level I and II at CSULA and further training from MusikGarten, Music Rhapsody, Sally Guerrero, James Harding, John Feierabend, and Soili Perkio.
While at the University of Arizona Ms. Zacharias performed in the Chamber Choir and Arizona Choir under acclaimed conductor Maurice Skones. She was a prizewinner in the Arizona Contemporary Music Society competition, finalist in the Klatzkin Piano Competition, and member of the Arizona State University Contemporary Music Ensemble. Ms. Zacharias, together with soprano Elif Savas, recorded an album of arias. She is a co-founder of Chroma, a chamber music group that performed classical concerts for young children. Ms. Zacharias is the choral accompanist at the Saint Monica Academy in Montrose. She performs throughout the Los Angeles area as soloist and collaborative musician.
