A program of three different song cycles exploring the sonnets of Michelangelo, the letters of Van Gogh and the words of other poets and musicians including Aaron Copland and Gertrude Stein. The poetry and prose of these artists set to music become self-portraits that help us to gain a better understanding of the human being behind the art.
