Cameron Wilkins
Cameron Wilkins is an accomplished and sought-after freelance musician whose diverse performance experience spans a wide range of genres and settings. As a trumpet player, he has had the privilege of performing with esteemed ensembles throughout Southern California, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pacific Opera Project, and the Culver City/Marina del Rey Symphony Orchestra. His versatility as a performer also extends to a variety of chamber music settings, where he has played in numerous brass quintets, contemporary ensembles, and collaborative projects with both classical and commercial musicians. Cameron’s extensive experience in both traditional and modern performance contexts has shaped him into a well-rounded musician, bringing a unique perspective to every project he undertakes.
In addition to his performance career, Cameron is an active educator and instructor of trumpet throughout Southern California. With the Oakwood Brass Outreach Program, Cameron works with elementary school students across the Pasadena Unified School District. Through this program, Cameron and his fellow musicians perform as a brass quintet, engaging young audiences and introducing them to the world of brass instruments and diverse musical genres. His outreach efforts focus on sparking curiosity and enthusiasm for music and encouraging students to explore the wide world of sound.
Cameron also serves as an Adjunct Instructor at Los Angeles Pierce College, where he teaches applied trumpet students and leads the Performance Workshop class in a masterclass format. His students have gone on to attend prestigious institutions, including USC, NYU, and many others. Cameron holds graduate degrees from California State University, Northridge, and is
nearing completion of his Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree at the University of Southern California, specializing in Music Theory and Analysis, Conducting, and Wind Pedagogy.
