Andrea Sanderson began violin studies at the Royal College of Music in London. At the age of 14 she became a student of Dorothy DeLay at The Julliard School, where she received her Bachelor of Music and served as a teaching fellow specializing in music theory. She has studied and participated in master classes with Felix Galimir, Nathan Milstein, Menahem Pressler, and Nigel Kennedy, among others. Ms. Sanderson was the music supervisor on her husband’s acclaimed feature film “The Other Conquest,” producing a soundtrack for EMI that features Plácido Domingo and The
Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. Ms. Sanderson also trained as a Suzuki teacher and has taught at the Mirman School and at the Colburn School as an adjunct faculty member. She teaches at Santa Monica College and also privately at her home studio. She has been the principal violinist of the Marina Ensemble since 2004, plays regularly with the Culver City Chamber Orchestra, and has been a member of the Pasadena Symphony Orchestra since 2019. Ms. Sanderson is the concertmaster of the Santa Monica College Symphony Orchestra, with which she has also performed as a soloist at The Broad Stage.
