The Zukovsky Clarinet Competition

The Zukovsky Competition is a new clarinet competition for high school students age 18 and under. The competition will be adjudicated by Michele Zukovsky, PCM Artist-Teacher and principal clarinetist for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Don Foster, principal clarinetist for the Pasadena Symphony. Monetary prizes will be awarded to the top three winners. The first place winner will have an opportunity to play for Michele Zukovsky in a master class at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music on Monday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. The competition will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2014.
Prizes
1st Place: $500 and a performance at a master class with Ms. Zukovsky
2nd Place: $300
3rd Place: $200
Required Repertoire
- Rhapsody for Clarinet, Wilson Osborne
- Applicant’s choice of one of: Etude #3, 5, 7, or 11 from “32 Etudes by Cyrille Rose”
- Duet No. 3, allegro sostenuto (first movement), Beethoven, from “Selected Duets for Clarinet, Vol. 2” compiled and edited by H. Voxman
