Lauren Yoon’s passion to share music with the world has made its mark throughout her career as a pianist. Ms. Yoon maintains an active career as a soloist and pedagogue. She has performed to wide acclaim from audiences across the United States. Her concert engagements have brought her to work with Maestros Niel Deponte of the Oregon Symphony, Huw Edwards of the Olympia Symphony, David Hattner of the Portland Youth Philharmonic, and many more. Ms. Yoon made her first orchestral debut at age 12 with the Oregon Symphony performing Beethoven’s Second Piano Concerto. She has also been regularly working with the All-Classical FM 89.9 radio hosted by Christa Wessel and Edmund Stone in events such as On Deck with Young Musicians, Thursdays at Three, and international broadcasts. Now a regular performer and pedagogue, Ms. Yoon has been invited as a guest soloist most recently by the Olympia Symphony performing Beethoven’s full second concerto.

Ms. Yoon received her Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy and Performance at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins, studying with Professor Benjamin Pasternack. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from the Peabody Institute where she studied with Benjamin Pasternack. Previous teachers include Ory Shihor, Monica Ohuchi Bunch, Elizabeth Stern, and Andrea Johnson.

Since being awarded the first prize in the senior division of the MTNA Piano Competition, Ms. Yoon has been awarded top prizes across many competitions. Ms. Yoon won a finalist position at the Van Buren Young Artist Debut!, receiving the Mary Tooze scholarship for pianists. She has also won the silver medal in the Seattle NW Chopin Competition, and was also featured with the Central Oregon Symphony in their concerto series performing the Chopin Concerto no. 2.

Ms. Yoon is also a devoted and passionate chamber musician, performing frequently with her sisters forming the Yoon Piano Trio. The Yoon Trio frequently performs for retirement homes, benefit concerts, and non-profit organizations to bring peace through music. In addition to the Yoon Trio performances, Ms. Yoon and her sisters are founders of Olivenbaum, a non- profit organization dedicated to making lessons and instruments available for those in low- income families. The most recent event took place at the border of South Korea and North Korea. Olivenbaum members performed at the DMZ (Korean Demilitarized Zone) to host an orchestral concert for the residents in that area as a celebration of community and music.

With a strong commitment to music education, Ms. Yoon strives to provide lessons to students to inspire creativity and reach higher goals as a musician. Ms. Yoon was also on the music faculty for a summer festival called Metro Arts Inc. lead by Maestro Niel Deponte. Currently, she is focusing on providing classical piano instruction through private teaching, aiming to inspire, nurture, and guide future generations of young artists in the music world.
