About Peter Fang
Hailed “piano prodigy” by The Seattle Times and acclaimed for “immense and electric (performance)” by The Boston Music Intelligencer, Peter Fang is a pianist who relishes embracing the diverse masterpieces of the repertoire. As a first-prize winner at the 2012 Steinway Piano Competition and a recipient of the Stephen & Denise Adams Fellowship and Chimei Artist Award, Peter has performed at many prestigious concert halls worldwide. These include Lincoln Center in New York, Symphony Hall, and Jordan Hall in Boston, Benaroya Hall in Seattle, Woolsey Hall in Connecticut, DeBartolo Performing Center in Indiana, A.B. Michelangeli Hall in Italy, Salzburger Barockmuseum and Universität Mozarteum in Austria, National Concert Hall in Taipei, and many others. The Boston Musical Intelligencer selected Peter’s solo concert tour as one of the critics’ favorites in 2019. His 2020-2021 virtual concert appearances at the United Nations and on several streaming platforms attracted more than 50 thousand viewers.
As a passionate chamber musician, Peter has worked and performed with worldclass artists such as Itzhak Perlman, Lev Klychkov, Feng Ning, Angelo Xiang Yu, and Borromeo String Quartet, among others. As a new music enthusiast, Peter has premiered, and recorded contemporary solo and chamber works by Kenji Bunch, Behzad Ranjbaran, and Victor Kong. Peter is a former secondary piano instructor at Yale University. Colleges and music institutions have invited him to give masterclasses and lecture concerts in New York, Los Angeles, and Taipei since 2019.
Peter earned degrees from the New England Conservatory, The Juilliard School, and Yale University. His mentors include renowned pianists Hung-Kuan Chen, Alexander Korsantia, Meng-Chieh Liu, Robert Levin, Boris Slutsky, Peter Serkin, and Jeffrey Kahane. Peter is pursuing a Doctoral of Musical Arts degree in piano performance at the University of Southern California. He teaches students in more than ten cities in the Greater Los Angeles area and serves as a jury member at several international piano competitions. In his spare time, Peter enjoys reading poetry, swimming in the ocean, and improvising jazz on the harpsichord, and he is a self-taught mixologist and photographer.
