Announcing Wicked Goat

Goat with sunglasses and music notes around it

This fall, PCM is excited to introduce Wicked GOAT, a brand new concert series featuring contemporary music for young people, co-curated by PCM faculty, Dr. Nic Gerpe and Megan Shung.

Wicked GOAT is not your traditional concert series, presenting repertoire of composers who lived centuries ago. This series aims to present exceptional, immersive, and engaging concerts featuring vital repertoire by contemporary composers performed by PCM faculty and friends.

The concert features works mostly by living composers (who will be in attendance and talk about their pieces!) and includes projection art and multimedia experiences. Each program also includes performance wardrobes designed by up and coming fashion designers, as well as after-concert hangs with food trucks and live student performances in the courtyard. By engaging the audience through educational dialog, conversations with living composers, and multimedia experiences, we hope to build an audience for whom music is a living art, and integral to their daily lives.

The first concert, Wicked GOAT concert⼁Fusion, is Sunday, September 18, at 4:00 pm. This concert explores music that bends and crosses boundaries of style and genre. Performers will wear clothing designed by LA-based fashion designer Julie Rogers. At the after-concert hang, audience members, performers, and composers will mingle and enjoy food from the Bollywood Kitchen and live music performed by PCM students. Reserve your free tickets online.

The other two Wicked GOAT concerts take place in early 2023. Wicked GOAT⼁Nature will be presented on Sunday, January 29, at 4:00 pm, exploring elements of the natural world, such as bird song, whale song, oceans, and landscapes. Wicked GOAT⼁Folk will be held on Sunday, April 2, at 4:00 pm, featuring music that incorporates folk elements.

All Wicked GOAT concerts are free and open to the public and take place in Barrett Hall at PCM. For a fun overview and intro to the series, watch this video put together by Wicked GOAT Co-Curator, Megan Shung.
