Vocal & Choral Arts

Vocal Arts

With an emphasis on classical music, the Vocal Arts Department prepares each student to achieve his or her vocal potential by teaching proper breath management techniques and contrasting repertoire.

Choral Arts

Do you have a voice that needs to be heard? Sign up for PCM’s choral arts group, Artes Vocales of Los Angeles (AVoLA)!

AVoLA’s members come together to rehearse on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm. Each rehearsal is like a voice lesson focusing on bel canto technique from master teacher, Dr. Steven Kronauer.

Our Programs

We offer private lessons as well as group and ensemble classes.

Artes Vocales of Los Angeles (Adult Community Choir)

For auditions, please email sholmberg@pasadenaconservatory.org. Auditions will be held at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music, 100 North Hill Ave., Pasadena.

What can you expect at the audition? Artistic Director Dr. Steven Kronauer will conduct the audition, which will include exercises designed to determine your range and voice type. Prepare a section of a song of your choice to sing. You also will be asked to sing a section of choral music in a part setting with another singer or two present. If the sight singing proves challenging, keyboard support may be offered. You may be asked to sing a well-known standard hymn or folk tune. An ear test will also be given.

We’re looking forward to having you sing with us! Tell your friends! Rehearsals are on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. beginning in September.
