The Generations of Music Project

My name is Erica Lee, a piano student at PCM studying with Dr. Susan Svrcek. I am a girl scout in troop #8631 and I am working toward earning my Gold Award titled, The Generation of Music. The Gold Award is the highest level award a high school girl scout can earn and requires a project that is sustainable and measurable. For my project, I am recruiting students from the PCM to play in recitals at retirement homes near the community. Each student prepares the pieces of their choice and also will research on those pieces regarding the time period, composer, or the piece itself.

Recently, I held my recital at Regency Park in Pasadena on November 9. The program and the audience were extremely lovely and loads of fun.

The performers included Dylan Wu, Leila Wu, Sudi Feng, Kendrick Shen, and myself.

I believe that my project benefits the residents and the students who perform because the residents can enjoy the recital, while the students learn to appreciate their talents and skills in performance. My goal is the bring the world of music to others, so we can pass it back up the generations above us.
