Kimberly Berry has been singing and making music since childhood and has been bringing the joy of music to students of all ages since 1998. As a first grader, Ms. Berry began singing in choirs and continued through high school. She broadened her music education at the University of Southern California, studying both vocal and instrumental pedagogy, as well as performing with the USC Concert Choir. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Music and Humanities in 1998 and a Master of Arts degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of California, Los Angles. In addition, Ms. Berry has an extensive background in both modern/contemporary dance and ballet, having studied at USC and in local schools of dance.
After a hiatus from the field, Ms. Berry returned to music education, with rekindled passion through attending Young Musicians classes at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music with her own children. Ms. Berry received certification in Orff-Schulwerk from California State University, Los Angeles, in 2009, and recently completed Level I of certification courses at the Kodály Association of Southern California’s Music Education Institute.
Ms. Berry joined PCM’s faculty in 2007 and teaches music classes in the Young Musicians program at the Conservatory, and in PCM’s Outreach program at Jefferson Elementary. Ms. Berry also teaches early childhood and choral music at The Gooden School and is on the Faculty of the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus.
