Trio Casablanca and Special Guests

March’s Guitar Nights concert will include a lively performance by Trio Casablanca. The Trio is known for their romantic interpretations of the Bolero. Member Pedro Lopez is mainly known for his unique style of playing the Requinto and accompanying many well known artists in recordings and productions such as Selena, Miguel Aceves Mejia, Aida Cuevas, Gilberto Valenzuela, Pedro Fernandez, Guadalupe Pineda, Graciela Beltran, Anacani, Yesenia Flores, Paloma San Basilio, Alvaro Torres, Francisco Madrigal, Mariachi Sol de Mexico de Jose Hernandez, and Mariachi International de Mexico. He has also performed in various Mariachi Festivals held at the Hollywood Bowl.

Billy Arcila

Billy-Guitar
Guitarist Billy Arcila received his Bachelor and Master’s degrees in classical guitar performance at the University of Southern California. During his tenure at USC, Billy studied with Prof. James Smith, Brian Head, Scott Tennant and William Kanengiser. Billy has taken part in classical guitar master classes with David Russell, Roland Dyens, and Pepe Romero. In 1999, Billy founded the on-line guitar store Los Angeles Classical Guitars.

Kai Narezo is a flamenco guitarist who has always had one foot planted in the Old World and the other in the New. His sound reflects a deep reverence for the roots and the soul of traditional flamenco, a love for the modern flamenco landscape, and an American sensibility rooted in jazz-fusion and contemporary production techniques. His first album, Vueltas, was released in 2006, and his latest album, Contra Tiempo, has its official release on November 6, 2015. His co-authored textbook, A Compás: The Flamenco Guitar Survival Guide, will be the first text ever to be used to teach flamenco at Berklee College of Music, where he also studied as a recipient of the BEST Scholarship.
